About Us

Our Mission

"It is the mission of Trask River High School to support the efforts of others in holding youth accountable and providing opportunities for reformation. This will be through providing a quality curriculum which develops academic, artistic, professional-technical, and social skills necessary for the youth to become lifelong learners in a changing world."

Trask River High School (TRHS), run by the Oregon Department of Education (ODE) and Tillamook School District #9, was establish about 1997 and at that time classes were held in both the Camp Tillamook and Tillamook Youth Correctional Facility buildings. In September 2010 staff was able to move into their brand-new school.

TRHS is considered a public school within the Youth Correctional Education Program (YCEP) and is one of the newer programs in the Tillamook School District. TRHS operates under a special contractual relationship with ODE and the Oregon Youth Authority (OYA).

TRHS provides 5½ hours of education, 220 days per year, to youth adjudicated in two adjacent facilities managed by OYA. We assess all youth; all youth without diplomas will be expected to participate in school, as this is an important part of their transition program. The instruction may result in acquiring further high school credits, a high school diploma, or, in the case of graduates, an improvement of basic skills in preparation for higher education or employment.

TRHS is accredited as a Special Purpose School with the Northwest Association of Accredited Schools.
