    Drywall

Students are learning a basic understanding of drywall through hands-on practice. They begin by framing a 3’x4’ wall, and then they proceed to hang drywall scrap pieces on that wall. They then practice taping, mudding, and sanding those walls until they get as close as they can to a residential standard. They then learn to texture those walls using a hopper gun. My favorite part is when I let them punch holes in their walls, and then we learn how to patch those holes.

    Textiles

In our textiles class students work with looms/loom hooks and free hand crochet hooks to crochet all kinds of things. We have a partnership with the Herald Center and have taken about 25 hats to them in the last year. The most common items to make are hats, but as you can see in the photos they've started to branch out.

    Drones

This quarter is exciting because we are introducing a new class surrounding drones. In this class, students should expect to learn how to pilot drones, how to read maps, understand ATC radio communications, as well as understanding what job opportunities are available for drone pilots. All lecture content will also follow piloting license standards to allow any student interested the skills and knowledge to leave here and get their license to fly drones.
