About

Over the course of the term, students will develop skills that would be useful in a commercial kitchen setting, as well as bolstering their confidence in preparing a wide variety of meals for self-sufficiency at home. Basic sanitation and systems management, equipment operations, meal planning, and production of meals will help build both skill and confidence in the kitchen. The ability to follow complex directions, adapt when necessary, and attend to detail within the framework of careful time management, are skills that are applicable across many career technical fields. In addition, the use of scientific discussion helps students to understand why foods are prepared in specific ways, and how their intentional choices affect the product.
